It was a negative day in the market yesterday as the US reported more than 1000 COVID-19 deaths for Tuesday. The Delta variant continues to reak havoc in the states that have low vaccination rates focused mainly on the central part of the country. All the American indices slumped lower for the day as the Dow, Nasdaq and S&P all closed the day lower. The European indices were mixed as both the Dax and FTSE sold off and recovered to close the day out near their opening prices.
The precious metals had a bit of a mixed day as gold and silver were both consolidate for the entirety of the day, Brent Crude was no different as it consolidates near its recent lows with the impending FOMC Monetary Policy meeting minutes due out later this evening.
The Australian and Canadian Dollar is currently the strongest currencies as the European markets opened up, the US Dollar is currently the weakest currency. Focus for today will be on the FOMC Meeting Minutes that are due out at 8:00 pm (SAST).
